Flexible Print Management Strategy For Mayfield School

Flexible Print Management Strategy For Mayfield School

Mayfield is a leading Catholic independent boarding and day school for girls aged 11 to 18, nestled in the heart of the Sussex countryside.

Described by Country Life magazine as “one of the finest schools in the land” Mayfield School has an enviable reputation. The ISI inspection rated the quality of education at Mayfield as “outstanding”. Mayfield’s results are excellent, the extra-curricular activities are plentiful and the pastoral care is exemplary.

Director of Systems at Mayfield Caroline Barry is emphatic that the girls are at the core of the School to help ensure they have the best resources available to them throughout their education.

When choosing external suppliers for the school IT systems, Caroline has strived to work with organisations that mirror the values of the School with ‘Actions not words’.

Of importance to Caroline was that the print set up at the school is not only secure and user-friendly for the girls and staff alike to use, but for documents to be accessible to the girls 24/7 with the ability to scan to the cloud to enable the girls to work from anywhere, specific print quality and reproduction for use in vital course work and projects.

Hannah Oliver, Art Teacher and Technician at Mayfield stated:

“We are confident that we can produce the high quality print required for the art department work and displays. We now have peace of mind that we have an amazing large format printer, which has been critical for the girls’ examination work.  We definitely made the right choice.”

Other key ingredients to the relationship between Newman and Mayfield was lifting the burden from the IT department. Caroline stated:

“Newman are very professional to work with, the ethos and particularly all the people in the company are very easy to work with, they have a keen attention to detail, are consistent in what they do and we completely rely on them across the board in ensuring the girls here at Mayfield an efficient and high quality printing and scanning service.”

Caroline continues

“Scanning has revolutionised the way in which we work. For example students can now scan material to their tablets or e-readers to be able to take their work wherever it is needed.  The introduction of papercut technology has not only meant there is a great deal less paper wasted but, for example if a girl forgets a text book a teacher can send the piece from their computer to the printer for the student to collect via access card from any printer in the school, thus enabling the teacher to remain in the class, minimising any disruption.”

In summary

Mayfield has a large print requirement across the entire school from teaching resources, posters, programmes to artwork, displays and communications of all kinds.

Caroline adds:

following our initial meeting with Newman a plan was drawn up for Newman to spend time on site to measure, review, recommend and report on their findings.  The end result enabled Mayfield School to make an informed decision based on fact and figures.  The printer estate is robust and functional meeting the many needs the devices are asked to perform each day.  Newman are the fourth member of the Systems team.  Would I recommend speaking to Newman – most definitely yes, if reliability, integrity and fairness is what you are hoping to achieve from a multifunctional device contract.”
